Samuel W. Shaw School

We are pleased to announce the opening of Samuel W. Shaw School, the newest public middle school serving the communities of Shawnessy, Somerset, Millrise and Shawnee Slopes. On August 27, 2009, we will be excited to welcome the students from grade 5 - 8 to our new building. This will be the first official day of school and is history in the making. We are thrilled to be a community school offering a wide range of engaging learning opportunities in our high tech environment.

We look forward to being a value added member of the community. In the interest of safety the playground zones around the school will be extended. Crosswalks will be repainted and there will be designated bus and parent/student drop off areas on the North West side of the school on Shawinigan Drive.

Newsflash

Do you love cold weather and clearing snow?  Better yet, have you always wanted to drive a Zamboni? 

We're the Millrise ice crew and we maintain the ice through the winter. The good news is that we have machines to do the heavy work and the work is extremely rewarding when we see kids active and skating. We're always looking for new volunteers. In October each year we begin our fall tune-up and we generally begin making ice in late November; please plan on coming down early in the year and get acquainted with the work.
