On the evening of January 22, GeoEnergy presented their proposals for residential development of Shawnee Golf Course. This presentation was held at the Delta South Hotel. The meeting was very well attended, not only by residents of Shawnee/Evergreen, but also from the surrounding communities, all of whom may be adversely affected by these proposals. The key of the presentation was the concentration on the "Garden City" concept, which, for those of us familiar with the UK and housing developments, both prior to, and post, Second World War, may not necessarily be a recommendation! The question and comment period session after the formal presentation clearly demonstrated the concerns of most of the audience. A key issue will be the impact on the already overloaded transportation system by the residents of another 1200 plus dwellings seeking a way out to work or to shop. This point was eloquently raised by a Millrise resident, who will be directly affected by any adverse change in the present critical traffic pattern.

We would like to encourage all Millrise residents to become fully informed of the situation and to offer their support to our neighbours.
Please contact the Millrise Community Association to show your support.

Do you love cold weather and clearing snow?  Better yet, have you always wanted to drive a Zamboni?

We're the Millrise ice crew and we maintain the ice through the winter. The good news is that we have machines to do the heavy work and the work is extremely rewarding when we see kids active and skating. We're always looking for new volunteers. In October each year we begin our fall tune-up and we generally begin making ice in late November; please plan on coming down early in the year and get acquainted with the work.
