May 17th, the Millrise Community Association held a clean up. The city of Calgary, e-cycle and Navajo Metals, set up at the rink site to collect our garbage, old computers, TV’s and patio furniture. Approximately 60 vehicle loads of unwanted “junk” were brought in to be disposed of. We had beautiful weather, amazing volunteers and quite possible the friendliest workers in the city sent to help us out. The gentlemen from the city and the recycling company worked so hard, that our volunteers took it upon themselves to clean the rink and surrounding area of garbage. Our site looks fabulous.
We set up a BBQ to feed all who attended, and not only did we accomplish our objective, but we had a great time doing it. Scott, thank you for all the work you did organizing our clean up!
I want to thank all the volunteers for sacrificing a day of their long weekend, to come out and support this effort. I was truly amazed at the number of responses we received once the call for help went out. This is a vibrant, caring community and we should all be proud to live here.
Keep checking the website for upcoming events. If there are things that are of interest to your family, please contact the community association through the website (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and let us know.
