The skating season has opened in Millrise and we are looking forward to a good deal of activity in the coming months on the Rink and the Oval.
Skating requires two things:
1. Consistently cold weather
2. Volunteers to clean and maintain the ice surfaces.

Number 1 we can do nothing about
Number 2 is presently in jeopardy
To all those who enjoy the facilities of the Millrise Community Association, and we know they come not only from Millrise but also from other communities in the South, we should like to remind you all that these facilities have been built and are maintained by volunteers and the City of Calgary plays no part in the operation. This work is done entirely by volunteers from the Millrise Community Association. We are however in crisis at this time as our team has been stretched to the limit and will not be able to continue without help. We need to augment our team, without more volunteers we shall be unable to keep the rinks functioning at the present pace.

So, it is up to you!
If you USE IT, don’t LOSE IT!
If you or your kids have time to skate, PLEASE, PLEASE give some time to look after the Rinks.

Newsflash

Do you love cold weather and clearing snow?  Better yet, have you always wanted to drive a Zamboni? 

We're the Millrise ice crew and we maintain the ice through the winter. The good news is that we have machines to do the heavy work and the work is extremely rewarding when we see kids active and skating. We're always looking for new volunteers. In October each year we begin our fall tune-up and we generally begin making ice in late November; please plan on coming down early in the year and get acquainted with the work.
